American Medical Association Urges Seniors to Call Their Senators TODAY To Save Access to Health Care

as the nation faces a surge in baby boomers relying on Medicare and a shortage of practicing physicians, medicare cuts of 21 percent next year, and more in years to come, will have a major impact on seniors and babyboomers' access and choice of physicians. A recent A-A-R-P poll found that nearly 90 percent of people 50 and over are concerned that the current Medicare physician payment formula threatens their access to care. DR CECIL B. “Senate Bill 1776 creates a path to permanent reform of the broken Medicare physician payment formula and the AMA is calling on the Senate to pass the bill so that no senior has to worry about access to health care or choice of physician. Our military families are also at risk from Medicare cuts to doctors because Tricare ties its rates to Medicare.”
