Every year, people with Medicare should review their current health and prescription drug coverage to make sure they are enrolled in the best plan possible. Seniors are in danger of being locked into their existing plans until January 2010 unless they review and compare their options now. What are the most important things you need to know about open enrollment? What is new and different this year about the Medicare health and drug plans? What plans are available in our area?
These questions do not only affect seniors, but also the more than 44 million Americans, more than one in five adults, who provide care to a loved one, friend, or neighbor. People who care for persons with Medicare must have the most up-to-date information to help with coverage decisions at this important time of year.
To answer questions before open enrollment ends on December 31, Kerry Weems, Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is available to talk to your viewers about resources and tools available to both seniors and their friends and loved ones. Kerry Weems has served with HHS since 1983. He has led efforts there to create health information technology that will build a healthcare delivery system based on quality and value of service. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services spends 1.8 billion a day, providing health care to 91 million Americans.
